Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits Woody and Buzz Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie was released, establishing the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing viewers to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Certainly, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her outfit.
Hopefully she is still the driving force among the toys.
