Holocaust Victims Demand Nigel Farage to Apologise Over Reported Antisemitic Remarks.

A group of Holocaust survivors has called for that Nigel Farage be honest and issue an apology for alleged anti-Jewish abuse attributed to him toward Jewish pupils during his time at school.

The Reform UK leader has previously stated he never racially abused anyone with malicious intent, proposing it may have been mere "schoolyard talk".

"Being Shoah survivors, we grasp the profound danger of words of hatred – for we have witnessed where such words inevitably end," wrote the survivors in a missive.

"It is crucial to understand: lauding Hitler, jeering at gas chambers, or directing racial slurs is not teasing. Not on a schoolyard. Not anywhere."

An Unequivocal Demand

The correspondence asks direct questions to the party leader: "Did you say ‘Hitler was right’ and ‘gas them,’ and mimicked gas chambers? Did you expose your classmates to bigoted harassment?"

Those Who Signed

The group of eleven survivors contains individuals with devastating personal stories from the Holocaust.

• Hedi Argent, who saw the murder of 27 members of her family.
• Simon Winston, who was confined to a ghetto before escaping in 1942 and spending the rest of the war in hiding.
• Anita Lasker-Wallfisch, who was deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau and later moved to Bergen-Belsen, where she was freed.

Additional names on the letter include Janine Webber, Edith Jayne, Helen Aronson, Ruth Barnett, John Fieldsend, Susan Pollack, Hanneke Dye and Agnes Kaposi.

Mounting Testimony

This action is a response to the rejection of similar testimony by more than two dozen or more former pupils and teachers as "made-up twaddle" by a deputy leader.

After the story broke, further individuals from that era have shared their stories. Nearly thirty former pupils and teachers now state they witnessed racist or antisemitic behaviour by him.

One well-known allegation comes from Peter Ettedgui, a Jewish-born award-winning director, who has stated that a teenage Farage would approach him and utter the phrases "Hitler was right" and "gas them", at times making a hiss to imitate the sound of gas chambers.

More individuals from minority ethnic backgrounds have additionally spoken publicly with stories of personal harassment.

• Cyrus Oshidar claimed he was branded a "racial slur" and has labelled as rubbish the claim that such actions were without intent.
• Another student of Asian heritage portrayed him as an "blatant racist" who would use the phrase "Enoch Powell was right" as a form of "ethnic harassment".

The Survivors' Final Appeal

The survivors' letter poses a final dilemma to Farage: "If you deny saying those words, are you claiming that 20 former classmates and teachers are not telling the truth? If the words were spoken, now is the time to acknowledge you were wrong and make amends."
